Schmittenhöhe with 77 km and the
Kitzsteinhorn with 41 km of ski slopes, the Maiskogel family mountain with 20 km of slopes also has excellent winter adventures in store.
Professional skiers can enjoy steep slopes and spectacular descents on Schmittenhöhe or Kitzsteinhorn. But don't worry, there are a lot of easy slopes too. The Maiskogel and Schmittenhöhe are tailor made for little guests. Zell am See-Kaprun also has challenges for thrill seekers. The Kitzsteinhorn is particularly popular among free riders and freestyler. Off-piste tracks, powder and a huge fun park for all levels is guaranteed.
The ski bus transfers you from mountain to mountain swiftly - even free of charge if you hold a ski pass. So you are not a skilled skier yet? Visit one of the numerous ski schools in Zell am See-Kaprun. The ski rental will supply you with adequate equipment.

The skiing season in Zell am See-Kaprun starts early autumn and extends into early summer. On the Kitzsteinhorn glacier you can ski and snowboard on snow-covered slopes for ten months of the year. In Zell am See-Kaprun winter sports are a unique experience, also non skiers will find many activities and possibilities to enjoy the white winter wonderland.
Have you ever tried snow shoeing? It can be exhausting but beautiful in the middle of the mountains! If you don't feel like exploring the mountain world alone, you can choose to join one of the guided snow shoe and winter hiking tours at the Schmittenhöhe. Regardless whether you opt for a short or long tour, there certainly is a lot to see.

As far as the eye can see, cross-country trails of a total of 40 kilometers in length wind their way all through Zell am See-Kaprun and into the neighboring regions. Enjoy the "high trail" loop around the lake Plettsaukopf at the Schmittenhöhe. You'll have a wonderful view over the whole region up there!
